  • North East Yorkshire Wolds

We drove to Market Weighton and did a “cycle tour”. 55 kilometres but mostly flat, the warmth of the day combined with dancing at the wedding to 1:00am made it harder than we had expected. These problems must be age related as Lena had been partying and only had two hours sleep and went to work in the morning. We used to be able to do that!

  • A visit to Yorkshire

I am not invited to many weddings, I think it was just two witnesses that attended my own. Laura, a colleague from school, was getting married near Sheffield and Lynne and I attended the evening function. Before the wedding we went cycling near Otley passing an old climbing haunt – Almscliffe – on the way. The cycling was against the grain of the countryside and in the heat it was hard work. I found an easier way back and this combined with a quality lunch stop – Betty’s café – meant that it was a successful day. The wedding party was fun and Lynne insisted on dancing until 1:00am.

  • Passive smoking

For most of this week, when the wind is in the wrong direction, we have been exposed to smoke due to the fire on the moor above Stalybridge – Hollingworthhall moor.

  • Trough of Bowland

I woke up at 4:30am and could not go back to sleep. I planned a ride through the Trough of Bowland, bought a paper and ate two breakfasts a continental breakfast at 5:30 and an English one at 8:30am. Thankfully we had a late lunch! The weather was exeptional, a perfectly clear blue sky, low humidity and a temperature of about 23 centigrade.

  • The Family Party

Legalise is spoken and plans are hatched to maximise the selling potential of Home Farm, Boultham Pk, Lincoln. A true family conference with Susan, cup of tea in hand, looking at the planning application.

  • Llwybr Ceiriog trail

When you have invested in maps for a ride it make sense to return to the area. We visited this area a few weeks ago. Today we started our ride from the Lllangollen aqueduct.
