Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Filed under: Family matters — Mike Chapman @ 10:07 pm

We paid a visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We were unsure about how much change there would be in one year. We walked to the Winter/Horbelt exhibition that is in the Longside Gallery.

Last Year’s visit

Being relatively new to these type of trips I am now beginning to understand the value of a visit that does now overwhelm you – go and see a specific piece of work and then go or see things that you have already seen before. I particularly liked the:

Light benches
Basket #7 – that is a modern folley in a spectacular setting
Kastenhaus 498.6 is made from re-cycled bottle crates
Mensa/canteen is a 10 metre l ong table sculpture formed from the cut-outs of what normally constitute place settings for a dinner.

Eduardo Chillda a Spanish artist has a giant steel structure that I particularly liked. Very dark.
