I dive everyday and study in the evening. The Divemaster course is not easy. The theory is fine similar to an AS level or easier.

The practical side tests a youthful man such as myself. The exercise this afternoon was to rescue a diver who is unconscious underwater by getting him to the surface towing him to the shore giving rescue breaths every five seconds and at the same time getting his kit and your own off so you can get him out of the water. I ran out of energy and he probably would have died!
This was followed by the killer test. Go down to 6m underwater with Martin who is 23 and whose dad Pascal is a dive instructor, swap all your kit fins, mask and BCD and just to make it more difficult you have to share one air source and pass it to each other when you need a breath. Desperate!!!! We managed it but he did more of the work than me. I wanted to be tested but this is my limit.
I feel privalaged to be working with a team of people from Belgium, Malta, Germany and England who have made me feel very welcome and I have one-to-two tuition with an instructor for 9 hours a day until the clients arrive.
Lynne on the other hand is painting and looking after me. she is looking relaxed and though she does not say anything I think she is really pleased to be here. We have no car and cycle the 3 or 4 Km to Victoria to shop. I think we are really going to like the challenge of working here.
