The six hours spent yesterday were good preparation for today. The questions I asked about the cause of my problems at the end of yesterday's entry, the difference in appearance of my weblog as seen in Microsoft Explorer and Netscape, were answered. A suggestion was made to test with up-to-date browsers, as many as possible. I downloaded IE6 and found that my weblog seen with this browser did not fit in the window, I had to scroll right. I went to Movable Type's Support group and quickly found that a few people were having this problem. It is caused by IE6 not supporting the “position:absolute" statement in the CSS sheet. The solution, use “float and “width”. Even with this information it took me awhile to get things right. Please comment if it does not look good in your browser.
On another matter Chris took a video clip of his son in the garden and then set it up so I could see it on my computer using Windows Media player. The quality was surprisingly good. TV in your weblog! This is what gave him the idea. See how the Americans are using it - Howard Dean for America - scroll down to find the link to Howard Dean TV.
Hadfield and Padfield from the other side of the valley
In contrast Lynne and I went for a walk after she had finished work. Where we went was radical;
the other side of the valley! The problem with the other side of the valley is that any walk you plan is on two maps - we don't get out much! The maps we purchased are not in the same series and there is a strip about half a mile wide, on the ground, that we have not got. Adventurous stuff. We spent time looking at the view and working out where we lived, where Hadfield was and the A57, embarrassing really!.
There are not many trees that have been allowed to grow branches this large and low to the ground. I remember taking Lena and Kate to play on them ten years ago.

The gate posts at the top of this post must be as old as they come. I suppose, and I feel we should know, this land must have been part of a big estate in the past. It will be sad if the bypass cuts this land up. Make the most of it now I suppose.

Mike it looks absolutely fine in my IE6. Well done. Have you experimented with doing without a border for your photographs? About the video experiment, I have not yet worked out how to buffer it properly so that it will work effectively with larger files and for people with standard internet connections.
