As both Sid and Steve are fitter than me another long ride would reduce me to the condition of the "Broom waggon" ride of a few days ago. I really wanted to avoid a repeat performance because my tolerance to this sort thing is going down rapidly.
So, to avoid this state of pain and depression I neeed a cunning plan. This process of making this picture album was my attempt to "slow" things down a bit, get short and regular breaks so as to reach the end of the ride with at least the chance that I could truthfully say I had enjoyed it.
I did enjoy the ride very much, though the cunning plan was helped enormously by the warm weather. In fact the sun, views and the conditions in general made the ride a bit special.
View from Moorfield on the Deryshire low road around Glossop
Start of the pleasant descent on Matlley Moor.
Looking across at the start of the Snake Path that leads
to the shooting hut.

Working your way up to the shooting cabin easier on dry grass.
Just starting the descent down to the Hayfield - Glossop Rd

Any more excuses?
Nice of you to look after us two old men!
Sounds like a good plan Mike. But if you need such a plan I hate to think how I'd cope! Now what time does the gym open at work...

PS Has Mike told you you've got an hour on Weblogs and the future at one of the meetings either Monday or Tuesay?
Posted by: Dave at August 26, 2003 11:35 AMHi Mike,
Although I have yet to post the photos up, it seems we were both recipients of the beautiful weather. I went to the lakes and forgot to pack a coat! (I must be suffering from being a city boy for too long) Amazingly I didn't need it!
It looks like a lovely break from your pictures, i'm afraid we were chickens and hired a car rather than mountain bikes.
See you next week - I will call you for some advice on the work I have been doing - probably tomorrow or Saturday.
