The Peak is dry, we hardly saw a puddle all day, Steve managed to find a smelly bog at the top of the Woodhead. So he stuck his foot in it. Windleden resevoir is in the background.

It has been a difficult week. Headaches at the start, I convinced myself I had high blood pressure and was suffering from stress. So after "compering" a parents' evening session - I struggled lacking the confidence to do a good job- I was delighted to find that my headache had gone and I had a streaming cold.
So after burning the wood on Friday night, a definite success the garden has never looked so tidy, I did little on Saturday apart from agreeing to go for a ride on Sunday. This may or may not be a bright idea, as John, a man in his second decade told me that going for a hard long ride after a cold should clear the tubes and I would feel like a new man. Now I remember this tactic, I used it with considerable success in my second and third decade. I also noticed that in my fourth decade it had a different result. The cold/flu that was on the wane came back with a vengeance after heavy exercise and you went through the whole suffering process again. Anyway, with this knowledge, I went for a ride around the Longendale resevoirs. Up the Woodhead pass off road and back down the Longendale valley on the other side. I took precautions, carried a spare warm shirt to wear on the descent, drank lots of water and of course took it easy. Some chance! I had to lie down for an hour after Steve and John had left and I had a coughing fit while talking to Lena on the phone.
Lena was not particularly impressed!
