Got up early for my cycle ride.
I started the ride with a cobalt sky, light frost on the grass and trees in the shade, everything was right for a lovely day out. Perfect conditions.
On the first hill my chain snapped. I heard the rattle of light metal on cobbles, two revolutions of the cranks later the chain fell off. No chain tool. I rang Lynne, I had some money, and there was a phone box nearby - I still cannot bring myself to carry a mobile phone when getting out at the weekend - she arrived with the necessary tool and a spare link.
Joining a chain is relatively easy if you have the right tool. I had, Lynne had brought it for me. The trickey bit is ensuring the rivot goes through the hole as you increase the pressure. If it is not lined up you mess things up. I broke the tool and the link - to make matters worse the chain was too short to take more links out. I put it down to the fact I had not got reading glasses with me. It was actually complete incompetence. When we got home I looked for spare links but I I had thrown them all away in a tidy phase at the beginning of the summer.
I went for a run and then a little sleep on the sofa.

It is time to get that mobile phone Mike, it is not the first step on a slippery slope to accepting Microsoft products you know.
It's time for me to do a bit of work on my weblog.
Will contact you soon. I will lend you the original of the CD we discussed, as have been unable to copy.
Missing Link?
