A visit to High and Low Bradfield

I made an error of judgement map reading the last time we were here that resulted in a very long ride that involved many hills.

The Cafe in Lower Bradfield that Lynne and Judy suggested sold goods that would normally only be found in an international luxury lifestyle store!

I asked the team as we returned to the car had they enjoyed the ride truthful as ever none of them replied in the positive. Persistence is an important attribute in the things I do in life, teaching, climbing, juggling or cycling.

Today we returned to Lower Bradfield. It rained and the wind blew but it was a great day out.

We found a cafe that was exactly what was required in a place, Lower Bradfield, that one might have expected would not contain a place that served good coffee, nice food and according to the experts in the field items that might only found in such locations as Harvey Nicholl, an international luxury lifestyle store. I did not find it surprising that I could buy cheese that had been made on a named farm and wrapped in nettle leaves in a village post-office that also had a great cafe but I am an extreme optimist. So I when I cycle into a village I expect haut cuisine! Lynne on the other hand expects to starve. I expect that is why we are still living together.

Two things that have happened this weekend that reminds me I am losing the plot. The first being that when a young lady in a track suit with two dogs set off running from the start of the Longendale trail I was surprised that I overtook and her secondly that I would not have been willing to make myself sick to get past her if she had been going faster than me. The second was when a man overtook me on a bicycle today I did not even raise my speed to see if I could keep up with him I just let him go past me.

I am not ill.

Yes I had a hard week at work but I usually do at this time of year.

Am I growing old gracefully? Perish the thought.

You forgot to mention the brilliant book exchange - I found just the book I had been looking for and they gave it to me even though I had no book with me to swap. Not likely on a bike in the rain!
Thanks for carrying it up the remaining hills for me, Mike!
